The Building Performance Toolkit is a free, online resource for property managers who want to improve energy efficiency and performance in their commercial properties. It was developed by BP Lab and the Steven L. Newman Real Estate Institute with the support of EPA Region 2.

Website features include:

benchmarking and energy audits

  • approaches to workforce training
  • explanations of retrofitting, retrocommissioning,  and ongoing commissioning
  • a guide to building performance which includes different building aspects and systems (energy, illumination, HVAC, water, and more)
  • links to helpful websites and online tools

The Toolkit launched in summer 2011 with a standing room only event at the Institute, featuring Rabi Kieber, Green Building/Sustainability Coordinator at EPA Region 2, and Clararose Voight, Assistant Project Manager Commercial & Industrial Existing Facilities and FlexTech Programs at NYSERDA (NYSERDA is a longtime supporter of BP Lab). Jack Nyman, NREI Director, talked about the partnership between NREI & BP Lab, and Nora Sherman, BP Lab Deputy Director, gave a tour of the new site.
